Saint Therese of the Child Jesus; Virgin, Doctor – Feast Day
A Patron Saint in our Parish
1 October

Therese Martin, the popular ‘Little Flower of Jesus,’ obtained special permission to enter the cloistered Carmelites of Lisieux at age 15.

She developed a spiritual approach of striving for holiness through her childlike confidence in God’s love and mercy known as the ‘little way’.

After a period of illness and intense suffering, she died a holy death at the age of 24. The spread of her spiritual teaching grew through her autobiography, ‘The Story of a Soul’.

She was Canonised in 1925, she was proclaimed a Doctor of the Church in 1997by Pope John Paul II.
