Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ,

The events that unfolded in Wakeley in Fairfield LGA on Monday evening are no doubt both shocking and disappointing and have caused distress and confusion for many in our community.

The images that have been shared via various media outlets are very confronting, not only the initial attack upon Bishop Mar Mari Emmanuel and Father Isaac Royel, but then the subsequent civil unrest that followed.

Violence of any kind is to not be supported and I encourage all of our Parishioners to use prayer as a way to peace and not violence.

To this end I would like to invite our Parishioners to a special “Holy Hour”, Sunday 21st April 4:30pm-5:30pm, to pray for healing and forgiveness and to encourage peace.

Our Easter Resurrection Stories often have Christ seeking out the broken Disciples and offering them His peace.

At this moment in our great City of Fairfield I ask you all to meditate on the Risen Christ among us seeking healing, seeking our unity, and commissioning us to be makers of peace in our community.

May God continue to bless you all.

Fr. Peter James
