Play Group is an informal gathering for parents and caregivers with children under school age, and is an ideal place for children to learn and develop through play. Play Group usually meets regularly (generally once a week for two hours during school terms). Responsibility is shared, with each member of the playgroup making a contribution and having a say about how the group operates and what activities to do.
Play Group is fun! Activities at Play Group includes: free play, art and craft activities, singing, dancing and book reading. Through Play Group, our children develop their communication and social skills. They will learn to share, co-operate and interact with other children and adults.
Play Group is great for parents and caregivers too. They can meet other families, make new friends, share ideas and experiences and learn from other parents or caregivers.
About Us
St Gertrude’s Parish Play Group was established in 2012 by a group of mothers looking for social interactions for their children and the mothers themselves in the community.
Our Play Group has a maximum of 20 places for children, and, currently, consists of a multicultural mix of little boys and little girls, aged 0 to 5.
We currently offer a Thursday session from 9:30 AM to 11:30 PM, held at the Play Group Demountable behind the parish house. Our weekly session usually starts off with free play and a simple craft activity for the kids. Morning tea follows, and the session finishes up with a story or more free play as your child desires. Cost: $3 to cover craft supplies etc.
